I have been in a manic reading frenzy lately. It's been one of those "carry my book everywhere and prop it up so I can read while I'm brushing my teeth and washing dishes and cooking dinner and folding laundry" kind of reading stretches. I've just found so, so many good books lately that it's been hard to stop. Some might say that I'm "avoiding housework" or "avoiding real life" or whatever when I walk around with my nose in a book and my attention firmly divided between the real world and my book-life, but I prefer to think of it as multi-living, which is just like multi-tasking except you are living your real life plus living in your book. It's really a two birds, one stone kind of deal.
Or maybe I really do need to put the books down for a minute now and then.
Either way, I definitely found some winners this month, and here they are, in 140 characters or less.
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green - It made me laugh, it made me cry. Cancer kids find each other and a book they love. They meet the author. Nothing works out in the end.
The Girl You Left Behind by JoJo Moyes - Two women, one painting. WWI meets present day. Haunting. Beautiful. #FreelyGivenNotTaken #OneOfMyTop5BooksOfTheYear
The Husband's Secret by Lianne Moriarty - "To be opened in the event of my death" but the wife opens it now. Three women, one intertwined story. Fabulous and unexpected.
The Help by Kathryn Stockett - I'm the last woman in America to read this book. Complicated times, complicated relationships. Wonderful story. #YouIsImportant
Those are the books that have been keeping me entertained this month. I don't have anything picked out to read next (GASP! It makes me feel all panicky when I don't have something lined up), so I hope you can help me out.
What are you reading right now that will be my next "can't put down" book?
